Sales stage is has not value in Sales Pipeline report

Hello,

We are currently evaluating Dynamics CRM online.

When generating the Standard OOB Sales Pipeline Report (German: Verkaufspipeline), we notice that the sales stage is not populated with the correct value (Vertriebsphase = nicht angegeben).

We would like to also be able to arrange the Report according to the sales stages to assess our sales Progression.

Would appreciate any insight on the matter.

Thanks

The "sales stage" used by the OOB Sales Pipeline report is not a property or field on the Opportunity records.

You can use multi-stage workflows to manage your sales process, typically in a "gated" process with checks and reminders along the way, with waiting steps and automatic updates. zB: Create a Task, with for it to be completed, then the Opportunity probability is updated and the workflow moves along to the next stage. You would give the stages names, often prefixed with a number for clarity when sorting them.

If you do this, then the "sales stage" in the report is the name of the stage in the workflow that the Opportunity is currently at.

You could have multiple different workflows for different sales processes, zB small and large sales, domestic and international, new business or returning customers. But you could have some stages in them with the same names, zB: "4 - Quote sent, pending follow-up", and other stages might only appear in some processes and not others "0 - Qualifying new prospect".

This tends to be seen as a bit "old school" now, many customer preferring to switch to using guided processes in Business Process Flows (BPF) rather than purely background automation, or to use a combination of the two for best results.

You have a couple of options: build staged workflows, with waiting steps so the stage progresses when certain actions are taken (zB: when the probability is > 50%, or a custom field is filled in).

Or, simply ignore this column and customise the report to use a more meaningful field such as the "pipeline phase" - this is updated automatically as you progress through a BPF, and is also used in the OOB sales funnel charts.

Or, simply don't use this report. Build a suitable view and put it on a dashboard. If you rely on things like "Weighted revenue" (Gewichteter Umsatz) then you could use a calculated field (in CRM online "2015" update) to replicate this.

    Viel Glück!
