Report Writer field to get data from a SQL view

We have created a SQL VIEW in a company database, and we wish to get the data from this SQL VIEW to be shown in the Report (eg, RM Statement On Blank Paper).

Please advise whether it is possible to do this without using Modifier. Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you very much, Mariano. We will explore more for the VBA with Report Writer.

    Yep,

Thanks for the reference Mariano. Still requires programming. If Modifier is available you have made them good to go! Sometimes I lose sight of more simple answers!

This is absolutely possible. Take a look at Using ADO with VBA with Report Writer over at Developing for Dynamics GP. The only one thing I can think of prior to implementing any code is that your view needs to be accesible to the DYNGRP role.

    William,

It might be time to take this off line. My number is 972-814-8550. I'll try to help you when I get the specifics.

    Hi William,

Do you have any dexterity programmers on staff? How about Modifier with VBA. Depending on the Layout and information you want it could be possible with Modifer VBA. Which modules do you own? SmartList Builder, Modifier VBA, crystal?

Is it important that it runs from the Dynamics interface? There a three thrd party products you may be interested. Fellow MVP Victoria Yudin at Flexible Solutions is good, Rockton Software has a product, and I think Accountable software may have a product.

    I' figuring you are on v 10.

Let us know what you come up with.

     Kind regards,

    Leslie

Many thanks for your reply. BTW, we are seriously want to have the modified report (RM Statement On Blank Paper) to be able to get data from our pre-defined SQL VIEW, whether by using Dexterity Programming, Smart builder or whichever way. I wish wish you can provide some guidance on this matter. Many thanks in advance.

    William,

To my knowledge you can not do what you want with Report Writer.  Since these are statements, you would be better served to create the reports with a database reporting tool like Crystal Reports. I imagine the 'programming' being referred to is Dexterity.

    Kind regards,

Could you please provide me the guidance on how can I use the programming way to enable the modified report to get data from SQL VIEW.

Modified Report name : RM Statement On Blank Paper

We have created a SQL VIEW that will extract all the SOP documents and AR transactions and classified them into different aging buckets (by calendar month rather than by no. of days).
And we wish to have the RM Statement modified report to get data from our SQL VIEW to list out the SOP documents & AR transactions for a specific date.
And then another set of data from SQL VIEW is put all those amounts into each buckets showing in the Statement report.

Kindly assist me to achieve the above requirement. Thank you so much.

using report writer without programming as far as I know you cant view them.

using smartlist builder this is possible.
