Blocked or invalid attachments error in email tracking

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

My user is getting the error every time there is an email containing an attachment (even when it is very small) that needs to be tracked by CRM.

The message was saved as a Microsoft Dynamics CRM record without all of the original attachments. One or more attachments are blocked or invalid.

Our max attachment size is 10MB.

Have you double checked the file attachment type versus the list of blocked types under Settings -> Administration -> System Settings on the General tab?

Did you resolve this issue.  I am seeing the same thing.  I have increased my size and checked to make sure .jpg is not in the exclution list.

    Hi Wayne,

Do recheck the maximum allowed attachment size.

Note that the file size metric is not in mb but kb.

We filled in 10 but it turned out that it is 10 kb... not 10 mb.

    Problem solved for us there.

    Hiya,

    Thanks for feedback.

Yes I double checked the settings.  I think my issue may now be that the attachment is not being displayed.  It appears to be blocking attachments on the accounts wall under activities.

We are facing the exact same problem. Is there any solution available?

What security role do they have?  They may not have the permissions to append anything to an email activity or create the note and append it to the activity record)

Security Roles are found under Settings>Security>Security Roles>select the Security Role your user has,

Can the user Read, Append, Append To Activities and Create, Read, Append, Append To Notes (Both can be found under the Core Records Tab).

What version of CRM are you on?

If you're on 2013 then 2013 SP1 RU2 has a fix that helps display special content.

    • When a customer creates an email activity or tracks an email that contains HTML content, and that content includes STYLE elements to apply CSS to the HTML content of the email, the style information will be inherited by the rest of the form on which the email body content is displayed. This can occur on the email activity forms, or when viewing the Activities tab on the Social Pane.

     What is the error message?

    Hi mscrmba,

thank you very, very much for getting back to me.

One of the users who faces this issue, is a user from the marketing department. He is owning a role with sufficient rights according to your description.

I walked through the way this particular user and other users are sending campaign mails, and i did that using an account owning "Systemadministrator" role. Same problem here. So I believe, the problem is not caused by missing privileges.

I checked the "blocked file extensions" under Settings > Administration > System Settings > General. Nothing suspicious here. I even deleted the exclusions completely - same error.

I also checked the "Maximum file size" under  Settings > Administration > System Settings > Email. It is allowing 32.678 kb. So this is not the cause, since the uploaded files are smaller.

We are running German On-Premise, Version 6.1.2.112, which in fact is 2013 SP1 UR2. The recommended fix, does not seem to be what we are exactly missing here.

The exact error message displayed is "The message was saved as a microsoft dynamics crm record without all of the original attachments. One or more attachments were blocked or invalid."

In fact this message is displayed for every email generated from that Quick Campaign. So once the user decides to send the mailing, i loops through the records, prepares the email, and displays this message before actually sending it (for every record). This becomes a problem with marketing list containing several hundred records.

The weird thing about it is, after confirming the error message, the sent email contains all of the graphics from the mail. And the email is displayed properly even when checking the activity inside dynamics crm.

Thanks a lot for your efforts!
