I have a user that has a new Dell laptop that GP will randomly shut down. I've tried setting the laptop back to factory defaults and after installing GP it still randomly crashes.

Here is what the Event viewer error says.

Are you using any shared report and/or form dictionaries? If so, try to not point to them. Usually crashes of this nature are due to corrupt dictionaries. Since you have already reinstalled GP it can't be DYNAMICS.DIC. Also, temporarily disable any antimalware software and try running as administrator.

Are you using VBA and emailing for GP as well?

Our report and forms dictionaries are on a network drive but no one else is having any issues.

We don't use VBA and don't really use email either. We have multiple users and no one else is having any challenges.

It sounds unique to this workstation. Have you tried to repair MS Office?

Forgiven89 - Did you ever find a solution to this?  We use GP 2016 and are rolling out new Dell Laptops to all of our users and at least one is having this problem.  I just plugged in my laptop yesterday and experienced the same issue so I expect to see more.  We are seeing the error message regarding the ucrtbase.dll as you have above.

Please let me know if you have found a solution.

We have not found a solution as of yet. We had to re-image the laptop and install GP again and stop windows from running updates on it. Evidently an update from windows is causing the challenge.

That is so strange.  Unfortunately that won't be an option for us.  It happening on several computers.  We can't stop Windows updates on all of them.  The first user that experienced the problem said some days it will be fine, other days (like today), GP will crash multiple times.

Absolutely.  Today is looking like a good day, so far...no crashes :)
