I have a user that has a new Dell laptop that GP will randomly shut down. I've tried setting the laptop back to factory defaults and after installing GP it still randomly crashes.
Here is what the Event viewer error says.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Thank you
Hi David - Ours happened for several users on new laptops but not necessarily when printing reports, it would most often happen when moving in the navigation pane as it is for Shyam's user. Mine most often occurred when clicking on a Quick Link for User Activity or in Sales, Transaction by Customer. We worked with both our Microsoft partner and Microsoft and could not find a solution. We gave up as we spent enough money trying. We do have a number of customizations and add-ons to our GP install. If you need more information as far as what steps we tried, please feel free to ask.
Hi David,
This is happening only for one user and that too after she got a new computer.
Also this is not happening on any specific process, it some times happens even while moving navigation pane from purchasing to Financials.
Thanks,
Shyam.
Are the crashes when printing reports? Try renaming Reports.dic or edit Dynamics.set to not point at network share.
Are you using Named Printers? If so, recreate the Printer IDs as driver updates can cause the stored binary data to become invalid.
Can you replicate a crash? if so, we can capture logs to identify the script causing the crash.
This should be solvable.
Regards
David
Hi Shyam - We never did find a solution. Most people just live with it and log back in when it crashes. If it gets really bad, we have GP installed on a Terminal Server that has no issues so they can use that.
Hi AnneBerndt,
Did you find any solution to the issue?
One of our client got a new computer and installed GP over there and she is facing the same problem now.
Thanks,
Shyam.
Absolutely. Today is looking like a good day, so far...no crashes :)
AnneBerndt - If you find a solution, could you let me know?
Thank you
That is so strange. Unfortunately that won't be an option for us. It happening on several computers. We can't stop Windows updates on all of them. The first user that experienced the problem said some days it will be fine, other days (like today), GP will crash multiple times.
We have not found a solution as of yet. We had to re-image the laptop and install GP again and stop windows from running updates on it. Evidently an update from windows is causing the challenge.
Forgiven89 - Did you ever find a solution to this? We use GP 2016 and are rolling out new Dell Laptops to all of our users and at least one is having this problem. I just plugged in my laptop yesterday and experienced the same issue so I expect to see more. We are seeing the error message regarding the ucrtbase.dll as you have above.
