    RE: Sick accrual setup

Our company recently upgraded to GP 2015 and purchased the PTO extender pack.  Does anyone know if you can use both the PTO manager and standard GP vacation accrual options simultaneously?  We are in CA and the new sick law takes effect 7/1/15 (1 sick hr/per every 30 hours worked).  However our current vacation accrual varies by position and tenure (accrue once pp).  From what we've read in the manual the PTO manager will accrue vacation every time a check is cut.  We received no training and are trying to setup the PTO manager using the manual.  Any suggestions/advise would greatly be appreciated.  Thank you

Harry...you make a great point...in the case of more complexities, another option (in addition to Comprehensive Leave manager) would be to consider using GP "PTO Manager" product (that is included in the HR/PR Extender Pack of versions GP2013 and beyond).

    Annette,

Dynamics GP does support vacation/sick accruals as a standard feature, which meets the needs of most companies.

Being based in Central California, we've found the complexities of accruals at times falls outside the capabilities of the standard functionality of Great Plains described by Jeff Rowles in his response to your inquiry.

In these cases, we recommend investigating Integrity Data's Comprehensive Leave Manager.

    RE: Sick accrual setup

    Hi Annette,

Yes.  The standard Payroll module has the ability to accrue vacation and/or sick based on either Hours worked or could also be a set number accrued per pay period regardless of amount of hours worked.

The hours worked function will automatically prorate the amount accrued with the following formula:

(Hours Worked in the Pay period)  x

(Sick Hours that should accrue each year/Work hours per year)

    Notes:

    • Sick Hours to Accrue Each Year is entered in the "Vac/Sick" button off the "Employee Maintenance Window"
    • The work hours per year is found on the "Additional Information" window off the "Employee Maintenance Window"

    So for example:

    • Hours employee worked in the bi-weekly pay period = 75
    • Sick Time entered for the year = 36
    • Work hours per year = 2080
    • Hours Accrued This Period  = (75*36) / 2080 = 1.298 hours
