Good day,
I am wanting to create a sort of "Time Sheet" or "Time Card" report that employees in the field can use to review their time for the week.
Ideally, it would look something like this:
----------------------------------------------------------------
| MONDAY | Task | Pay Code | Labour |
----------------------------------------------------------------
| | Fixed hot water heater | Regular | 2.0 |
| | Replaced rusty part | Regular | 2.0 |
| MONDAY TOTAL| 4.0 |
----------------------------------------------------------------
| TUESDAY | Task | Pay Code | Labour |
----------------------------------------------------------------
| | Travel to Destination | Travel | 0.5 |
| | Deliver and install furnace | Regular | 2.5 |
| | Travel to Office | Travel | 0.5 |
| | Break | Break | 1 |
| TUESDAY TOTAL | 4.5 |
----------------------------------------------------------------
| TOTAL | 8.5 |
----------------------------------------------------------------
The trouble is trying to group these Booking Journal records by day and also totaling them by day.
I've looked into SSRS reports, but they are very heavy and seem to require extra architecture like a server.
Ideally, I would want to define this report using something more light-weight, like the built-in Word template tool. Unfortunately, AFAIK, a Word template can not do fancy group by day operations and such. (Nor can the built-in report wizard.)
If I were using SQL I could simply create a "staging" view that brings the data together and aggregates it the way I want; then a Word template could produce this report with simple repeat structures. But I can't seem to find a way to create such a "staging view" using Dynamics CRM.
Any ideas on this? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
BGS
