Exactly what is validated, when you use "Validate" in a journal?

If we don't know what is being validated, it's not useful.

Tried to validate at journal that is not in balance, and get no error.

So it's not as in AX 2012

Hello,

For validate everything if correct or not, you need to use "Simulate posting", it will meet your rquirement.

This is as per design D365 FO.

Hello Andreas,

I would express it as follows:

Validate:

This was already available in previous Dynamics versions - checks that all mandatory fields are filled. This does not guarantee that a posting can be made e.g. if you select a main account that is suspended.

Simulate posting:

This function does the same what D365FO does when you post a voucher. The difference is that the process stops at the point where the posting is actually made. So, if you want to be sure that a posting goes through, use this option.

Sounds viable.

Issue is, that MS havent docuemented what is being validated.

We will probably use the "Simulate Posting" instead, hope it dont slow system down to much;-)

I get this when validating - Journal not in balance

I will try this using standard D365. The environment I'm testing in, is altered.

Hi Andreas,

Can you check if there is a customization or localization which could be related to this. The standard validation should provide the details if a journal is not balanced. I have seen customizations in the past which caused also similar behavior.
