I have an issue with a new client config of BC.
They've set up the My Company trial and they'd like to continue using it as we loaded some of their data already, however inadvertently during the trial someone loaded current inventory.
That means that a large number of Items already have ledger entries, and can't be deleted and reloaded easily. there are numerous changes required to the data, including costs, costing methods etc - which can't be changed with open ledger entries in the current period. As we've already tried to re-load items from a config package, it has left the items with issues, blanked fields like UoM, costing method etc - and they can't be updated because of the ledger entries. Of course, I can't delete ledger entries, and I can't adjust the inventory because uom etc are missing from the records.
I'm thinking that the fastest way to resolve this issue would be to export the current configuration as a package, create a new company, and then reload the data (replacing the Item data with the correct info, of course)
Can anyone please confirm if this is the appropriate approach, or if there is an easier way to complete that?
