Default Location and LP for PO receiving.

Hi,

we use an inventory dimension with site / warehouse with managment / location / LP.
To receive a Purchase Order in AX, we need to specify for each lines the location and licence plate to use.
Can we specify these by default ?
To receive my order, I begin to record the receiving quantities, and on each line I precise LP and location.
I know that I can go faster with mobile device, pick and put process, but I also want validate some simple receptions directly in AX.

Hi Benoit,

It is possible to setup fixed locations, but I doubt if they are defaulted on purchase orders.

The license plate itself cannot be defaulted.

As you mentioned the mobile device would be better to use for license plates.

If the direct receipts are an exception I would not touch it. Otherwise you can consider a customization, but watch out for not breaking other areas like the mobile device functionality.

No, it's not possible to default them.

After all, it depends a lot on how full/empty they are, what else is already on the location, the physical dimensions and weight of the specific items being received, etc.

Ok.

We are a central purchasing for a network of stores. we need a complete inventory managment for our warehouse. Our stores are simple but may be they'll need later a complete inventory managment, so as we can't change an inventory dimensions without create a new product, we choose to use the same inventory dimension for all our companies in the system.

Plus "the issue" when you create a release product with an inventory dimension, it goes in product database with the inventory dimension, and we share our products. As central we push the offer in stores. We could create product without dimension but... we choose to use the same inventory dimension for all.

Mobile device is ok for our warehouse. For a simple store (1 location, 1 licence plate), I look for the simple way to receive, without mobile device. So I can record the line I want to receive on PO, but I need to complete each line with location and LP...

We want to stay in the standard and avoid any development.

In our configuration what do you think about the DAX philosophie ? Use different inventory dimension ? they doing it like that in the demo VM, but it is not scalable for future.

Fixed location are non defaulted in PO with and inventory dimension that need LP. I didn't test with another inventory dimension.

Well, you can get rid of the req to specify the license plate if you configure the location profile to be not "License plate tracking".

Then you'd need a customization to default the location when you register the items

That's true. I tested it and we don't have to fill the LP field.

But the mobile device web UI ask for a location with LP managment... :)

We'll try to test what happen when we receive by the POS system and will decide how to receive in stores. Our upload link is broken so we don't know yet how it receive in AX when we ask to receive with POS, it just asks for quantities, not location or LP.

You can put away to a non-LP tracked location from the mobile device as well

You however still need some LP-tracked locations when doing it through the mobile device, at least the receiving location (Default receipt location specified on the warehouse) + the user location (Warehouse worker is by default assigned a location with the same name)
