How to change a plus button so it creates a new entry rather than searching

Hi Guys,

I have created a new entity for my company. I want users to be able to click on the plus button and it opens up a new form to fill in rather than currently opening up a search button.

See here screenshot: ice_5F00_screenshot_5F00_20181107_2D00_173130.png

The subgrid behind this is as follows: 7127.Subgrid-info.PNG

When i change the Data Source/ Records to "All Records Types" the plus sign does change to allow me create a new record using the plus sign but then all of the discovery docs are visible. Is there anything I can do to change this?

Ah yes, i got it now, i was doing it wrong, i was looking at the Opportunity level and trying to find the correct field, but I should have been looking at the discovery doc level which i have just done now and it works.

Thanks so much for your help and follow up.

    Hi ,

How can you relate sub-grid record to parent record , you should provide lookup value of parent record right? If you are facing any difficulty then you can go to  subgrid forms and find the lookup field from there.

Double click on field , go to details tab and click on edit  and set required .

    Hi Goutam Das,

Thanks for coming back to me on this. I am very close to getting this changed but having difficulty in finding the "Look up field" Is this a specific field that I should be able to find? Within the fields section of the entity that i have added i searched for "Look up".

Sorry, I know this is problem something really simple that I am missing, thanks for the extra help.

    Hi,

As suggested above, this behaviour is controlled by the fields requirement level i.e. if it is required it will open new form otherwise it will open the search box. If you want to open a new form nbut doesn't want to make the field required on the other entity then you can create business rule on the other entity to make it non=t mandatory i.e. fiel dmanadaotury by default and non mandatory by business rule. this way you can still open a new form and keeping the field requirement as not mandatory.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Make sure the lookup field for the parent entity  is required in the subgrid entity .

So you need to go to subgrid entity by going to settings -> customization-> customize the system/solution ->  expand subgrid  entity -> Fields--> find the lookup field of the parent entity in which you are  showing the subgrid -> open the fields and set business required and save ,publish all customization.
