HR - Payroll import Employee info and setup configure

Hi, I just joined in with thie forum and hoping to get some great information and help with fellow Dynamics GP 10.0 installation, setup and configuration. 

I have questions on how to import employee data from another payroll system into HR>payroll>employee,  using the table import feature or any feature that I am not aware that is available.  Is there a format or template that exist out there to make it easier to import employee information into Dynamics?

Also, any recomendation in training and books for setup, configure, administration of Dynamics GP 10 would be very helpfull..

    Integration Manager is the tool you can use to populate the Employee Maintenance and some related windows. Unfortunately, it does not work with the purely HR windows like benefits.

    For benefits, I have created mail merge macros to populate them.

    Certainly, you should start by reading the user guides that ship with GP. If you have an account in CustomerSource, you probably have access to eLearning courses.

    I was able to figure out how /where is Integration Manager module and Installed it.  I also was able to load employee information using source (csv file) from the sample files.  A little trial and error process but got through it regardless.    However, I do not understand the purpose of the database from the user guide.  Is that needed for the tool to work properly? or not?.  IAlso, t seems that the tool is bugyy at first and wanted me to close / open GP app.  Are there known issues with this tool?

    Thank you for your response.  as far as Customer Source, I am not familiar with that, is that the same as Gold partner benefits, it would be nice to have the eLearning courses.  Please provide more info with the CusterSource.

    The tool may have bugs but what you mentioned are not bugs. If you use the eConnect destination, you do not need GP to be open. If you are using the standard destination adapter for payroll employees, you do have to open GP in the company you're updating. Make sure no windows are open in GP.

    Also, there is an INI file in the Integration Manager folder (c:\program files\microsoft dynamics\integration manager). Open it with notepad. There's a line for UseOptimizedFiltering. I would set it to False. I've had a lot of problems with the default setting of True.

    You will need to talk to your partner about getting access to CustomerSource or call Microsoft at 800-456-0025.
