Bulk updating connections

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello all,

The previous administration responsible for setting up our CRM had a complicated way of tracking Connection Roles:

  • A custom entity titled "Relationship", each record here was a type of role (Supplier, Agency etc)
  • A Connection Role called "Relationship"
  • Each connection would be Account  - Connected to "Supplier" as role "relationship"

This was too complicated for most end users to give time of day to and as such we have been rebuilding the relationships as standard connection roles, so that we can set Account - Connected to Us - as role "Supplier".

However, I'm trying to mass import these and it always fails all records with error "Duplicate reference found" and I can't see why. Admittedly, they all have the same account listed under Connected From (our account) but this shouldn't matter as they all have different Connected To accounts, right? One account can have many connections to other accounts? I can manually add these connections but it won't let me import. I've even turned off deduplication rules and have the same issue.

Any help greatly appreciated as I have around 40 types of connection to import!
