Marketing Lists - can you add new entities to the target at field?

Unlike most businesses where an account has multiple contacts, our customers often work across several business units, therefore to monitor our overall interaction with a customer our developer recommended we created a new entity that we attach multiple contacts to......this means we have duplicate contacts in the system, but for us it's not a worry.

To be able to use the marketing list function I need to be able to attach the main customer record, rather than one of their contact records.

The 'targeted at' only offers accounts, contacts and leads.  Is it possible to add my custom entity to this options list so I can attach the marketing list to my main customer records?

Many thanks in advance.
