I'm interested in getting feedback regarding how others are setting up user access. Prior to SOX, our access was very broad, but now we of course have the need to segregate our duties and the ability to do this within the software is a strong control. SL is wonderful in that you can turn on or off just about any aspect of the software, however, it has been difficult to determine exactly which screens, reports, etc should be available to users to maximize efficiency with the workflow while maintaining strong internal controls.
It would be very helpful if sample templates were available to show exactly which screens and reports should be available to various types of users.
For example, we want an AP clerk to be able to post vouchers and we want another person to make the payment selection. We'd like the GL accountants to be able to post transactions, but have an approval process prior to having them posted to the GL so we'd want some segregation of user access there as well.
We've set up several user groups and we've established our "role based" SOD within Accounts Payable through trial and error. Basically turning on or off various screens and reports and seeing what happens. Isn't there a good resource for setting up basic templates for SOD?
Thanks!
-Wendy
