Impact of Turning off Flash AddOn with GP Web Client

We have received an email from out IT security group stating that Homeland Security has advised of a major security flaw within Microsoft IE and Adobe Flash dubbed “Operation Clandestine Fox.”. Please use an alternate web browser for the time being or disable Flash in your IE browser.

My questions are:

1. Will disabling Flash affect the GP Web Client users?

2. Would it be advisable to have them run Web Client in an alternate browser and is that even possible? What are the limitations?

This 'flaw' was fixed with a update patch. I would tell your IT staff to make sure it is installed on all machines.

The GP web client uses Silverlight so disabling flash should not affect it. You can use alternative browsers, specifically, any browsers that support Silverlight. This should be Chrome and Firefox on Windows and Firefox and Safari on Mac. Not all of these are supported but I know that the GP team has tested on Chrome and I've tested on Firefox for Windows and Safari for Mac, all with acceptable results. Other folks have had a few issues so it's worth testing.
