GP2015 - Security task to attach files to customers, invoices, etc

I cannot identify the specific security task to allow my employees the ability to attach documents to vendor cards, invoices, etc.

I believe ADMIN_COMPANY_001 gives this access, but it also gives access to too many other tasks.  I want to create a custom security task just for attaching files.

Thanks.

Just to add to Heather's points - if you want your users to be able to email these attachments - with Invoices/PO's, etc...

Then ensure to enable the "Select Attachments to Send in Email" - also in the same place as described by Heather.

    Thanks for this post.

    John,

I am guessing you have been on GP for a while now.  If you have upgraded to your current version of GP from a version prior to GP2013 R2 - the DEFAULTUSER task does not have security granted to the document attach security items.  What I thus do for my upgraded clients then is:

    1.  Go to Tools>>Setup>>System>>Security Tasks.

    2.  In the TASK ID box type DEFAULTUSER.

    3.  In the Type drop-down select Windows.

    4.  In the Series drop-down select Company.

    5.  In the Access List area, click to select :  Document Attachment Inquiry, Document Attachment Management, and Document Attachment Status Inquiry.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Walt

Document Attach is part of core Dynamics.dic. No extra product needed.

The security is not set on a per module basis. It is set for the entire system.

The DEFAULTUSER Task gives access to this functionality as well as all the lookups and system windows needed by all users and is usually added to each Security Role to ensure that access is granted.

If you are still having specific issues then it would really help if you had GP Power Tools which will identify the exact resources you are having issues with and show how access to them can be granted.

Hello David, many thanks for the valuable information you generously post on all topics GP! I feel like the screen shot above does not answer the question. Is there a special install for the document attachment product or is that product installed as part of the standard install? Also, I can't seem to find a module level task which allows end users the right to attach documents within that module, nor a company level task that grant user the ability to select a file attachment. Thanks for the help and have a great day.

    Hi John

If you are talking about the Document Attachment Management window (coAttachManagement) this is part of the DEFAULT Security Task and available in almost every Security Role.

See the screen shot from GP Power Tools' Security Information window:
