Custom CRM email metrics possible?

Hello,

I am looking at a way of creating a plugin for Dynamics CRM 2016 that will allow users monitor the delivery rate and open rate of emails in a campaign.

If this is possible, does anyone have any recommendations on how to start?

If this is NOT possible and I need to buy a plugin, does anyone have any recommendations?

    Since CRM doesn't actually send mail, this is almost certainly not possible.  you might be able to do something with tracking pixels, but that would be a nontrivial amount of work to set up.

    ClickDimensions is a good email marketing tool that sits right inside of Dynamics and does do all that.  You'll safe yourself a lot of time and effort using something like that for email tracking.

    Marketo and Adobe Marketing are two more that integrate as well.  Hubspot, Eloqua, an ExactTarget all do too, though I'm not super-confident in them as they're owned by competitors of Dynamics.
