difference between "remaining quantity" and "inventory quantity remaining"

We have a discrepancy between the "remaining quantity" and the "inventory quantity remaining":

resulting in the following error when adding more than remaining quantity to container "the work quantity cannot be negative':

How can this difference occur and how to solve?

Hi, I have often seen this happen on Purchase or sales orders where the inventory unit of measure is different than the purchase or sales unit of measure. Then a user goes into the Delivery remainder form and instead of updating the Purchase/sales quantity, they manually update the inventory quantity and cause an inventory transaction discrepancy:

You probably can get into a similar situation with Work where the unit of measure may not be the same as the item's default inventory unit.

When you say the error is upon adding inventory to the container, can you please confirm the steps the user is doing? Is this adding items via the packing station for outbound picking work?

Thanks for your help. We debugged the issue with a technical consultant and found out it was caused by flight WHSPackingWorkRemainingQtyUpdateOnPackingFlight, activated with release 10.0.41. We contacted Microsoft to disable the flight. It caused the units to convert wrongly when closing a container.
