2012 Tax R7 Update

I am trying to run the tax updated manually for a client to add in the 2012 R7 tax update.  I have downloaded the .cab file and when I point to the folder in GP just sits after I hit process.  Says it is looking for updates.  I have re-downloaded the file and same thing.  Any ideas?  Is there another way to do this?  I saw a post about extracting and running the .sql file.  Will that work?

Seems like I ran into the same issue when I tried putting that cab file in c:\program files\microsoft dynamics\gp.  Thinking it might be a permissions issue, I put the cab file in c:\temp and it ran fine.  If memory serves it will remove that file when the update is complete so probably needs appropriate permissions.

    Hello Robyn,

Thank you for replying on the community forums with your inquiry.

There is another way to update your tax tables, if you are having difficulty using the U.S.Payroll Update >> Payroll Tax Update >> Manual.  If you double click on the Tx.cab file to open it, you will notice there is a ‘Tx.sql’ file.  This is a SQL script that you can run/execute against your ‘Dynamics’ database in the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

Please Note:  It is recommend that you create a restorable back of your dynamics database

Once you run the ‘Tx.sql’ script against you dynamics database, log into Microsoft Dynamics GP and open the ‘Payroll Tax Setup’ window (Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> System >> Payroll Tax) and verify the ‘Last Tax Update’ field is dated 11/30/2012.

    Best regards,

    Jonathan Herman
