GP Upgrade without install?

We upgraded from GP2013R2 to GP2015R2 in a TEST environment that will become our Live SQL Server.  GP2015R2 is installed in a few locations but not on the SQL Server (we don't want it there).

Once we restore the 2013 db's into the upgraded system, do we need to go through the Installations of all products on another computer somewhere or can I simply run GP Utilities from one of the computers that has 2015 installed?

Yep thanks - I found that out when I tried with one company. When we do the live upgrade I will do it with an install. We ended up postponing the upgrade for another month (for reasons not related to the upgrade itself).

    Barb,

If you installed new products that were not there in your original GP DB, you'll have to re-run the installation process, since it may not pick it up if it's missing after your ran the GP Utilities.. The GP upgrade utility will only focus on what's in the DUxxxx tables and in the Utility launch file DYNUTILS.SET, which may result in the utility to throw errors because the launch file references 1 or more products that are not yet in the original DB's.

    Be careful with that ..

That's what we plan to do, even just to select DYNAMICS and a couple of smaller companies to test ahead of time but I thought I would ask the question here anyways :)

What if we installed an additional product from Disk? Those tables don't exist in the 2013 databases. Do we need to reinstall that product or will the tables get installed during the upgrade process in Utilities?

    You can just run Utilities.
