Hi everyone,
I discovered an odd behavior regarding the Quick Create functionality when used in the results page of the Global Search. I use Contact as an example, since this is the only entity for which we use Quick Create, but I guess it behaves similar on other entities:
Repro:
1. Search for any term which returns a contact in Global Search
2. Click on the "+" Sign next to "Contacts" to open the Contact Quick Create form
3. Whatever term you were searching for is now pre-filled in the first field on the form (first = the one on the top left). That is, if this field is a text field. If it's an optionset for example, the search term is entered in the next field on the form which is a text field.
This is not a huge issue, but it's a bit annoying for the users. I doubt this works as designed, as I did not find any possibility to change this.
This behavior could easily be fixed with a little bit of JS, but this isn't really a solution: The script would have to be adjusted when/if the form is changed.
So my question is: Is there a supported way to prevent the pre-filling of fields when opening Quick Create from the Global Search page?
This is on Dynamics CRM 2016 On-Premise.
Thanks and best regards,
Alex

I have the same question (0)Hi Alex,
I tried to reproduce this behaviour in an online D365 environment unsuccessfully. It may be particular to your version. If you can post some screenshots it would make it easier to understand.
I agree that avoiding it by a simple on create JS function is not a convincing solution but yet it can be a temprorary workaround.
Best regards.
