You need to duplicate the master and then change only few fields in there?

    No standard way.

we have created a simple batch report and added an action on Item/Customer/Vendor to Copy the data to New record.

There is no default functionality available to duplicate the master data. But with the minor modification to the system this can be achieved.

Or else export it to excel and then import it back to item table using rapidstart.

Yes that was also my rescue plan. But my question was merely  if a non-prof user could do it?

Thanks all for a quick reply :-)

Then you should do a small modification as Mohana said. It will be easy for a non- professional users to copy the item.

Any idea of how small that modification is?

    Hi KKJ,

There is no duplicate data standard function. But there are some ways to do it:

    1. Create batch report as Mohana mentioned in Development Environment.

    2. Use Configuration Package as Tharanga mentioned (no need coding):

    - Create new package.

    - Select table, fields.

    - Filter data to export to Excel.

    - Edit code in Excel.

    - Import it back to package data.

    - Apply package data to database.

I think there are around 30 fields for Item/Customer/Vendor.

You can follow my wizard video for this process at Youtube.

    Hi KKJ,

Are you a partner or customer?

Please contact a developer to do the modifications if you are not aware.

    Hi Mohana

    I'm a partner.

As a result of the answers above. I will recommend my Customer to use RapidTool for  this job.
