Upload initial stock in bulk

Hi all,

We are implementing Business Central and came across the need to upload the stock of our items. All our items have a lot number. I have seen that with the Item Journal I can make a positive adjustment for every product. This is fine! The problem is that I have to manually go line by line entering all the lots. I tried editing it in Excel and specifying the lot number, but it gives me an error as it's a read-only field.
Configuration package is not an option as the lots for each line have to be entered in a temporary table.

Does anyone know a way in which I can upload the stock of our 2k+ items with lots? I'm 100% sure someone else had to face this problem in the past.

Thanks so much in advance!!
Kind regards,
I have the same question (0)

    Hi

A new action can be added on the Item List page to allow users to upload an Excel file containing Lot Numbers.
Since the Lot Numbers are custom-defined (i.e., not auto-generated), using a Configuration Package will result in an error — "Lot No. does not exist."
    This customization will:
    Read the Excel file
Create the Lot Numbers in Business Central if they do not already exist
Assign the Lot Numbers to the corresponding items as per the file

    Hope this might help.

    Thanks,
    KP

Normally I prefer writing my process only code for this and that's the best way out with no error scope.

You can do this in standard BC by enabling the 'item tracking on lines' checkbox on the item journal batch.

    Hello,

You can do it using the business central standard.

In addition to the product loading by the Product configuration package, you must load the Mov. reservation - 307.
This will add the corresponding batch code for each product in the lot tracking of the journal.

    I hope I can help.

    Best regards,

    Andres

    Hi all

Thanks for your responses. The easiest and most straight forward way was enabling the item tracking on lines in the journal batch. I had no idea this option existed, so much appreciated. With this option and editing in excel it gets super easy to get it done.

Once again thank you all so much.
    Kind regards,
