Management Reporter Description vs Dimension Value

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

New to D365, so this may be a basic question.

In management reporter is there an easy way to generate the report to only show the value and not the description?

Example:  I only want to see 0100 and the report generates Region 1 which is the description tied to 0100.  Some descriptions in my instance are long and make the report look a tad messy.

Any ideas and thanks!

    Hi,

Do you mean that the description field in your row definition is automatically filled with 'Region1' instead of '0100'?

If this is the case you can simply overwrite the name that defaults in the row definition. Note: Yo do not have to do this overwrite manually but can do that quickly in Excel by copy & pasting your row definition back and forth.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that is my fallback plan but was hoping for an easy way to to simply show the dimension value behind the description being presented  I tried putting in a acct column but nothing shows up so I guess I need figure out how to make that work.

Defining manually would require a lot of maintenance and may be prone to error since it is a large org.  So trying to avoid the manual approach.

    The mr journey continues.

    Hi Gangles,

I have a lot of customers who record the account number in combination with the account name in the MR descriptive field.

Something like '1234 - Travel expense'

Would that be an option for you?

Note: The account column that you mentioned will show the ledger account; yet, it won't show this on the main report level but when you drill down into details.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

P.S. If there is nothing else open here then it would be great if you could verify the answers. Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig
