Error attempting to get report status. The operation could not be completed due to a failure on the server for Management Reporter2012

Hi,

I got below error after I upgraded GP2010 to GP2015 along with Management Reporter to 2012.
"Error attempting to get report status. The operation could not be completed due to a failure on the server"

However I can open the report from report viewer2012. Looks like the report itself did get generated but some how it can't be shown after it got generated and I don't see queue item detail. I did check that I am having IE as default browser as someone suggested.

Also one of the admin users is able to run the report without any problem. He could see queue item details when generating the report. I am the same admin user btw.

Please advise what I should check and how to fix this issue.

Thanks in advance!

Huan

Can you run MR Designer with elevated permissions with the user having the issue? If you are successful in running the report, the problem is permissions related, assuming IE is in effect the default browser on the machine experiencing the issue.

    Hi Mariano,

No it does not run correctly with my user login even I am admin user. :(

Where should I check what permission I am missing for.

    Thanks,

    Huan

    Huan,

So now that we've ruled out permission issues, you can try and export both the row and column formats for the report. Then proceed to delete both the row, column, and report definition formats giving you the issue and reimport.

Be sure to backup your Management Reporter database prior to doing any of the above.

    Hi Mariano,

Could you please tell me why reimport will fix the permission issue?

    Thanks,

Additional information. We all use remote desktop to access the same application server.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Just want to share the solution for this issue.

By switching to "Use Management Reporter Report Viewer as default Viewer" under Tools>>Options in MR so that MR will not try to start IE as default viewer which could have network permission issues.

The report pops up right away like a charm.

    Thanks,

    Huan
