move a new field into an existing solution

Posted on by 365

I have a solution in my sandbox that is home to a number of new business processes and web resources that our developer is working on.

As part of testing I needed a new field in an existing entity and created it but did so in the default solution.

How do I go about moving this new field into the solution being worked on so when we export and import into production, my new fields are also included? Is this just a case of going into the new solution and "add existing". This then brings in the entity I want including the new field?

RE: move a new field into an existing solution

    Hi,

If in the solution, that you use to move customization between environments, you have selected "Add all assets" for the entity that you have added a field, this field will be there. If not then you have to go to your solution, in Entities add the entity you want (using Add exsiting button) then select the tab with fields and select your field. If this entity is already on the solution then you just have to go to the Fields section on the left menu under your entity and click "Add subcomponents". Now choose the field that you've added. The same scenario applies to all other things you add outside your "work" solution.
