Modifying the User Full Name in Dynamics 365 Business Central - Office 365

We've imported our users in Dynamics 365 Business Central from Office 365. However, after importing we found that the Display Name/Full Name was wrong. So we changed it in Active Directory (as we cannot modify full name in Dynamics 365 BC)  and it got reflected in Office 365.

Now, we couldn't find any way to re-import those user. so cannot update the full name.

Any suggestion ?

Go to Users in BC, and click Get New Users from Office365 and see if the name gets refreshed.

Nope, it only fetch the new users. It doesn't affect the users edited or deleted on Office 365 side.

    Hello,

like Teddy said, the "Import User from Office365" is the way to go.

Except for deleted users. As soon as a user posts something in BC you can't delete him anymore.

Have you tried to edit the user in O365 as well? Had this once, that I had to use the edit function in O365, so the changes are made.

    Regards

    Erik

    Hi Erik,

I checked multiple before/after posting this question. The label which read as "Get New Users from Office365" is only importing new users. Not the existing users. Yes, i edited the User in Office 365 but the changes are not getting imported into BC.

    Regards,

    Himal

Try Restore or Refresh User Groups from the Users.

What happen if you delete the user and Get New Users again ?

    Restore/Refresh doesn't refresh users.

It may work if i delete the user in AD and reimport. But I'll end up with multiple users on dynamics 365. as right now, there is no way to delete users on D365 side. Also, user will need to reconfigure their profile/outlook etc.

Hi, we have a client who is experiencing this issue as well. They update the username in AD but is unable to get this updated in Business Central.

    Hi,

As far as I know, you have to modify the user details in Office 365 and use Get Users From Office 365 and automatically the User is created in BC.
If you have issues related to Licensing where you want to refresh the latest licenses assigned to the user, you can use Refresh All User Groups and automatically the User Groups are set and refreshed for the User.

If you need more details you can open https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/<TENANTID>/?page=9822 which will give you more idea about how users are setup in Business Central.

If there are still issues, you can contact the Microsoft Support.
