My 2011 database server crashed, I tried doing a Bare Metal Restore which brought the server back but CRM doesn't. When I go into the deployment manager on the front end server The snap in crashes. I tried to import an organization and it says it cannot find the sql server. What to do????

If you were backing up to an external system,  you should have a valid database to restore, even in the case of bare-metal rebuild.  Restore the backup to SQL, then try reinstalling CRM from scratch.  If it can "see" the databases during the install, you're fine.  If not, you might need to look for a data restoration firm.

So the fact that there is no + next to the organization_mdf database does not mean I am toast?

That's fine, as long as you do the restore on the SQM server and can navigate the database.  No problem restoring from MDF.

All my backups are of the actual database mdf not .bak. It would be the same as what came from the bare metal recovery.

What about your backups?  You might lose today's work, but that's a far sight better than nothing.

When I log into SQL Server manager the organization_MSCRM database has NO + icon that expands to show the tables.

Assuming you have a successful database restore I'd just reinstall CRM and point it at your existing database.  That generally hooks everything back up.
