Storage Dimension - Blank Receipt/Issue Allowed (Unable to modify)

Hello Microsoft Professionals,

I am having an issue with storage dimensions configuration. The context is I want to have an item that I can process purchase orders with but not require a warehouse selected during the PO process, similarly this is not a physical good, think intangibles like software or digital goods.

I am assuming this is setup at the storage dimension level - I get that I cannot modify an existing storage dimension with transactions posted, etc. But how do I create this config setup with an entirely new storage dimension?

I have attached a screenshot for reference - note: unable to select highlighted boxes for Warehouse:

I think with "Mandatory" set as yes will allow you to leave warehouse as blank in transaction.

    Hi johnnystruck,

According to your requirement, you can directly use non-stocked item. Just set the storage dimension as you show above and don't enable the option 'Stocked product' in item model group.

    Thank you QianQW,

I am realizing I want the product as stocked simple because as a SERVICE item I want to be able to maintain system transactions of service items. But also nothing on-hand. AND not require a warehouse during PO generation/receipt. Is there a configuration I am missing in Storage Dimension + Item Model Group?

    Hi johnnystruck

I don't think you are allowed to switch off the Warehouse dimension. My best suggestion is to create a single Warehouse in each Site, and set it as the default warehouse where possible. Hopefully you will just be able to ignore it. Use Default Order Settings / Site Specific Order Settings, set default Site and Warehouse on Customers / Vendors...

last resort, use data entity, turn off business validations and update/insert trigger at entity level and this allows to override

    suggest if it helps

The warehouse dimension is always mandatory for stocked items. Please follow the suggestion from Guy Terry above.
