BIServices Question

So forgive me for my lack of knowledge.  I have searched the internet to find my answer(s), but I am not finding what I need.  I am new in my current job and most of my background is in networking.  We are running AX2012R3.  We have several AOS servers.  For this example, let's say 5.  One is a batch server (we can call AOS1), and the other 4 are load balanced.  Users connect to the AOS instance through a server in an RD Farm with a Connection Broker While going over the procedures to shutdown and restart the entire AX system, from draining users to full shutdown to restart-verify-notify, I was told that one certain AOS server (we can call AOS3) had to be up and AOS services running before the other could be back online.  I was told because of the BIServices" connector on AOS3.  I was shown in AX under System Administration -> Services and Application Integration Framework -> Inbound ports an entry for BIServices.  I can not find anything unusual in that entry that would explain why "AOS3" would need to come online first or the other AOS' would not be able to run reports for the users.  I have looked at some other settings/config's.  I have remoted in and looked at the AOS that has to come online first.  I have search online, but search engines pick up on "BI" and give me "Power BI" results.  And no one can give me the why to this question.  I am not necessarily asking for the direct answer.  I just need help being pointed in the right direction to learn.  And trying to read the documentation cover to cover is not practical at this moment but would be a good idea!

RE: Dynamics AX 2012 BIServices Question

Do you mean business connector? I not sure about BIService connector. If you are referring to business connector then likely there are some integration written on it also also SSRS report server. Means this is the main AOS. For example if you have deployment or regenerate full CIL, you should only have one AOS running first until it completed, even you are using model store deployment. This is because the CIL will copy from the xppassembly to the server XPPIL folder. This is just one example.

On the AIF, you will not see any because you will some something like NETTCP on the url (sorry if I couldn't remember exactly but basically it should be replaced with your AOS server name and your integration can test by putting those url on the browser url to test whether is it up or down. The BIService you mentioned might be just one of the AIF service exposed.
