Using Dimensions in the Reporting Tree

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello community,

I'm building a report and I need to slice and dice by location and line of revenue (both are dimensions in my chart of accounts).

When I select a specific location in the dimension column in the reporting tree, no problems and the report returns the expected results.

When I select a specific line of revenue, management reporter does not isolate the results for this line of revenue, but returns all the legal entity results.

Still does not work with a combination of location and line of revenue.

In the row definition, I only set up one column as the grouping is always the same.

Thanks for you help!

    Hi MireilleD,

Can you provide more details on your report setup?

Where and how have you setup those two dimensions and how did you slice and dice your report?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Is there a way I can send you print screen of what I did?

    Hi MireilleD,

Right below the TextBox there is a button 'use rich formatting' available that allows you attaching screenprints. When doing that please note that you have to save them first before uploading them. Simply copying and pasting them regularly does not work.

Would be great if you can post some screenprints of your row, column and reporting tree Setup.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

Selecting a specific element of your reporting tree will shown you all the line revenues for that reporting tree element - just as you write above.

If you select a specific line revenue only in your report and do not filter for any reporting tree element you should see them for all of your entities.

Before selecting a specific line element you should thus select a reporting tree element to get the data correctly filtered.

Is this what you tried to do?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

    I'm no sure I understand 100%...

What do you mean with before selecting a specific line element I should select a reporting tree element to get the data correctly filtered?

    Hi MireilleD,

What I wanted to ask is to select your reporting tree element first and then select the revenue line. This should filter only those revenues for the reporting tree element.

Alternatively, you can setup additional reporting tree elements right below the ones you have and that filter on the revenues. So rather than entering the LineRevenue and LineBusiness Dimensions in the row, try to add them in the reporting tree and test if this filters your data correctly.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
