Forecaster 7 database creation wizard fails

Ok so here's the problem, I'm not familiar with Forecaster to understand exactly how it works but we wanted to test it out to see if it's something our organization wants to utilize.

During installation I received numerous errors because the pre-req's couldn't be installed because I'm running GP2013 R2 on Server 2012 and SQL 2012. Not a big deal because I just downloaded the current tools and bypassed that portion of the installation.

Now I'm stuck at the database creation wizard, whenever I try to run it the wizard fails when I tell it the server and credentials to use. I can't seem to finalize the installation and I'm not sure how to fix it. I've installed all current SP's and hotfixes hoping that would work but it still fails at the database creation wizard. When I say fail I mean the infamous program has stopped working either close or check online for a solution fail.

    The db is online, it's the same instance that contains both GP and Management Reporter and both work fine.

    I tried running the wizard from both the terminal server we're using where GP is located and the SQL server thinking that might make a difference but the wizard still fails.

    Unfortunately I don't see where this will help me. This article explains how to setup Forecaster DirectLink for use with FRx. We've already retired our FRx and moved on to Management Reporter.

    In the KB it mentions in step 7 to select the Forecaster db, for some reason I can't get the wizard to create the initial db. In the wizard it asks for the server to create it on and the one I want it created to is the same instance where management reporter and GP are located. It allows for windows creds and SQL creds so I've run the wizard both as myself and as SA but with no luck.

    The wizard actually fails and gives you the prompt to either close the application or go online to seek a solution.

    I feel like there's something I'm missing. I even ran the wizard with elevated permissions as administrator thinking that would help. Still no luck.

    I've had the same problem, and found that if the server that you are connecting to has a database which is offline, the Database Creation Wizard will always fail. In the end I had to create the empty Forecaster db on another server, then backup and restore it onto my original server.

    Did you use the attached KB to perform the installation steps:

    support.microsoft.com/.../938573

    There are several scripts which need to be run, in addition to the software installation.
