I currently have an out of box AX 2009 installation running in my environment with no customization et al and plan on running AX2012 simulation in my lab. Can someone please share with me the simple step by step upgrade guide if possible with screen shots that will aid my from AX2009 to AX2012 as the AX Upgrade guide confuses me more that help me achieve my aim.

The AX Upgrade Guide is really your best source of information for understanding the way that the upgrade flows. The upgrade to Dynamics AX 2012 has many more steps than previous versions, and following through the checklists that are installed as part of the upgrade code gives you a step by step workflow that you can follow. There is also content published on our resource page related to Upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 which you can look through, but many of those items pertain to upgrading customizations.
