Hi,

My notes entity is set to read by organization level.

i need to set notes that were created by specific users/teams to unshared with everyone

Is there a supported way to do that?

Thanks,
Ofer

    Hi Ofer,

You can unshare records using Advanced Find. By clicking on the 'Share' button, you can then use the 'Remove Selected Items' button to modify the share permissions for your records. This can only be done one record at a time however.

Another option is to unshare your records programmatically, by specifying the users, records and permissions you want to modify within code. There is some sample code within the SDK that may help you to achieve this:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh547423.aspx

    Hope this helps!

    Regards

    Joe

Thanks for looking into it Joe.

Please note that as default this record is view able by everyone so you can't choose whom to unshare it with.

If you look on the share from the advanced find you will not find any user/team there.

    Is your solution still applicable?

Under security role, go to core records, find the note field and make the read applicable to the user only.

You need to think the other way round. You can't make something available to everyone *except* some people, or make an entity available to all, *except* for some records.

Rather you need to make every record of an entity private (for example to the owner only), and then make specific records available more widely.

You might be able to do what you need using Business Units, depending on how fixed the "specific user/teams" are. (by the way, a team cannot create a record, only a user can).
