Replaced Printer - Now GP freezes when trying to print to it

We had a printer fail and it had to be replaced.

The printer we replaced it with only prints with the universal driver PCL5.

The previous printer used the PCL6 universal driver.

I have done a test print from the server and it prints fine.  When printing from GP, as soon as I click print everything goes gray and GP is not responding.

Does this mean I need to rebuild the report.dic file?  What am I missing?

Thank you,

Will

Will - Are you able to print reports to screen? Rather than sending it to a printer?

    Ven,

Thank you for the reply. It freezes when I try to print to the screen as well.

I am able to print from other applications on the server.

Can you print with other programs to this printer? Have you tried sending non-graphical reports out of GP to this printer?

Is the print spooler service running on the troublesome client?

I can print from other programs on this printer.

The print spooler service is running.

    Additional information:

    This is a named printer.

Entering the "Assign Named Printer" screen and choosing "Setup"

I choose the printer ID and then click on the lookup for "Printer Name"

When I click OK, it locks up at this point as well.

At this point it appears to be a driver issue, but really do not know how to solve at this point.

Printer is an HP P2035N; only support is HP Universal PCL 5 driver.  Does not support PCL 6 driver based on HP website.

Running GP 2010.  I did not think printer drivers were still an issue with GP 2010?

If you print a non-graphical report does it still lock up? I am wondering if it is PCL that is causing the lock up.

    Tami,

Thank you, but I do not see a PS driver as an option for this particular printer.

It locks up even on a non-graphical report.
