RMS Automation Error

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are using EPSON T88V printers and Topaz Signature Pads.  We select a network laserjet as the default printer for all POS Clients.

At random tender out we receive "Run-time error '-21477417848 (80010108)'  Automation Error "The object invoked has disconnected from its clients'.

All Internet searches point to having a label printer as default printer or re-installing RMS.  I have tried everything!  Can anyone help?

We are using a mixture of Epson ADK 2.6 and 2.7 OPOS Drivers and running RMS version 2.2.   Any help would be much appreciated.

    RE: RMS Automation Error

     UPDATE:

We removed Epson OPOS ADK 2.67 /2.7 from all POS Lanes and moved to Epson Advanced Driver 5 for Windows.  The cash drawer pops when the receipt printer prints, this is not ideal but the number of errors has somewhat decreased.

Our main problems now are :

    1. Receipts randomly do not print.  Usually a cashier can hit F4 and print from the Journal but at times even this is not allowed without exiting POS.

    2.  Seems to be a memory leak.  We will get a "Memory OUT line 0" error and will have to force quit POS.  We upgraded our busiest lane to Intel I5 8GB of Ram, thought the problem was fixed.. To no avail, as it just took longer for the memory to leak out.

     NOTHING but problems since 2.0200.

We're having a similar problem.  It's a brand new store, added to HQ that already has two.  They rang all day with no problem, but when trying to run the X report, they get this exact same error msg and get kicked out of RMS-POS.  Same error when trying to reprint the X report from POS or Manager.  Haven't tried the Z report yet.  Zebra label printer was installed, but is NOT default printer.  Made XPS the default.  Even removed Zebra from the mix, still same error.  They can still ring a sale and get a receipt.  I tried reimporting the XReport.xml into the Receipt Format and reassigning it to the Register - Receipt Printer 1.

OK, troubleshooting as I type.  Last week when setting up the Epson receipt printer (don't have the model right now, different than ChazH345), we were getting errors.  I turned off the receipt Header Logo, because that was the only receipt difference before go-live.  That option isn't in the Z-report Properties, so I blanked out the logo in RMS-SO Administrator Configuration.  No more automation error, but I got that stupid "Invalid Error" so rebooted the PC and the printer afterwards and it's working now.

The logo is only 2k, so I'll probably go back and try to get that working for them with perhaps a different format of the file, but for now they'll do without.
