Build a custom versioning feature for model-driven app

Hello,

In dataverse I have two custom tables taking the example of a Purchase Request (Header, and Line Items tables) as follows:

The main goal to achieve is whenever something was changed for either the Header table or the Line Items table, automatically a new version should be created with a copy of all the line items.

I know that the audit feature is already there but we want the possibility to have a history of what was changed and interact with this data because later we are planning to add the revert version feature which is not included as OOB.

I notice this feature is included in the knowledge article in the Customer service hub module as below:

I want to achieve the same for my custom tables. Could you please suggest and advise what is the best way to achieve this kind of requirement by providing some helpful documentation on the concept or an example?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you,
EBMRay

It seems that whenever you edit any record rather than updating the existing record with new values you were creating a new record and deactivating the older one.

In order to achieve this, you will require custom development. However, we would also like to suggest one of the solutions named Click2Clone which provides this functionality.

You can follow the below link in order to know more about Click2Clone App.

Also in order to achieve the functionality of restoring the changes which you have made in your CRM you can use one of our solutions Click2Undo which is an add-on for Dynamics 365 CRM. Click2Undo enables you to restore the changes made in CRM and also restore the deleted records.

You can follow the below link in order to know more about Click2Undo App.

    Hope this helps!
