What tools are people using? What works?
Just Master files or Transactions also? (e.g., Sales, Cash Receipts, GL Transactions, etc.)
MS Migration Tools for Dynamics GP?
Data Junciton or other Tools?
What tools are the bes bang for the buck?

Is this a one time migration? - or will you be doing regular integrations from sage? If regular, you should really look at eConnect. Far better error handling, more robust, and less management time required once the integrations are set up.
Yes, and we will be doing them forever? I'll let you know how it goes. That is of course I do not ge distracted.
Yeah, I hear you...A lot of the required values in IM however can be defaulted...or a constant inserted. Bit of work I know, but once you get it working it is a peach. You can have all of your imports set up and tested in advance, and when the big day comes, you just export the latest data from Sage..get it into the required format and run IM.
Are you doing the conversion anytime soon?
Ian,
Thanks for the feedback. Just at times the transaction level of the IM tool seems to be much more complicated then it needs to be especially for Invoice Transactions and Payment applications (Cash Receipts). It seems as though the stock connector samples don't always work out of the box. (Ok I like easy).
A McVicar sends his thank, really. Blessings and a great day.
Honest opinion is Excel and Integration Manager!
If there is a large amount of data in Sage, you will want to export and check for problems / reconcile before you import into GP. Also, you might want to tidy up ID fields - debtor / creditor / inventory ID's...and you will probably revisit your chart of accounts - new chart of accounts mens mapping transactional data from the old chart to the new chart.
Excel really is the best for all of this. Integration Manager for conversions comes with a new install of GP (there is a time limit on using it though). Using IM to import the data means your import obeys the basic GP business logic.
In terms of bang for your buck...you probalby already have Excel, and as I said IM for conversions comes with new installs of GP.
For data imports not covered in IM, or if you are importing into modified windows, you could write a macro...which again must obey the basic GP business logic or it will fail. Net effect is 'good' data in GP to start off with. You can write a macro in Qbasic from scratch or use mail merge in word to create the macro.
Thats my opinion anyway...others might have different views.
Hope this helps.
