Purchase order receive only line by line?

Hi guys,

when i try to receive a purchase order (doing the work) it seems that i have to confirm every line of the purchase order. Here is a screenshot of the AX handheld "simulation":

I wonder how this is could work in real life. The worker has to choose the "LineNum" by himself. There is no hint on the handheld of how many lines the PO consists of. How could he know which items belongs to which lines? Another problem i see is that our purchase orders can have hundred ore more lines. In those cases it would take a long time to receive them this way, wouldn't it?

What is your opinion?

Regards

Nils

    Hi Nils,

You must be using 'Purchase order line receiving' on the menu item. There's also one called 'Purchase order item receiving'. Try that, I think you'll like it!

    Hi Nils,

I'm afraid that 'Purchase order item receiving' will not solve the problem. Again, the purchase order has to be received line by line. The only difference is that you have to enter item number instead of line number for each PO line.

Did you find any other way to simplify the inbound process?

    Hi Adrian,

If you want to bulk receive a PO, you can use Arrival overview/Item arrival. This gets you inventory onto the Inbound dock with the status 'Registered'.

If you need to create put away work, you can configure a mobile device menu item and location directive for a process called 'Inventory movement', which is a bit like an ad-hoc put away function in WHS.

    Hi Guy,

thanks for your suggestion. I followed the steps - registered receipts and then used work process Movement by template. Unfortunately, this process again requires scanning of each item to move from inbound dock to the target location. I didn't find any possibility to move all items from inbound dock by "one click".

Is the target location the same location for all items?

Could you configure a Location directive to determine the correct target location(s)?

I'm using fixed target locations, different for each item. I believe that location directive for put work type is configured ok. Portal just asks for the information what to pick and from where in order to create the work for a movement. I need to scan the location (inbound dock) and item number.

Another interesting thing is that the new work is created for each item.

The problem I see is that there is no way to bulk create PO work. Once we've got work, we can configure the mobile device menu item to do 'System directed' and the user just keeps pressing OK. Or, you can just process the work from within the AX client.

To get work, you have to do PO receiving on the hand held (item by item). Or, use Inventory movement to create a put away, but again you have to scan one at a time.

Sorry, but I can't think of a way to get what you want in WHS. Annoyingly, I can think of a way to do it in WMSII!
