All,

I would like to copy an existing company and create a new company so I can use it as a test/training environment. Is there an easy way to do this? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks - Jon

Yes, it's very easy.  Search for "Companies", highlight the company you wish to copy and click "COPY" in the ribbon.  It will have you enter a new company name.  Follow the steps and your new company will be copied from the existing company.

    Dear BPS2017,

Can you elaborate your question please?

Are you looking to copy an existing company to a new company on the same environment? If so then I would agree with Mary's suggestion.

But if you need to create a test/training environment I would suggest you create a sandbox environment.

Thank you. Is there a second step to have it appear as an allowed company under settings?

Granting permissions to it on the user card.

Click on the "Search Icon", In the Search field type "Users" Click on Users to open the "User Card". On the User card select your User and assign "D365 BUS FULL ACCESS" in User Groups and User Permission Sets and select the company which you created. Refer to the screenshot attached, I usually assign "SUPER" too.

@Karasahin: Copying companies across environments is still not possible. Normally we use Edit in Excel or Configuration Packages.

@Shehreyar, how can I do that? Is it like creating packages of customers, items etc. then, importing them to sandbox environment?

@Karasahin: Yes, basically its more towards the Data Migration side rather than taking a backup and restoring it. The Data you upload to both environments should typically be the same and then you can build same cases around it.

Back-up and restore capability is only in the hands of Microsoft and Point-in-time backups maybe requested for the Production environment. I don't think Microsoft will cater the request of copying from Prod to Sandbox or vice versa at the current moment in time.
