An MCSE is requesting to install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for SQL 2005 on the network for one of my Dynamics GP customers. The customer is running Dynamics GP 9.0. Is it okay to install SP2? Has anyone had any bad experiences with this upgrade?

Thanks for the insight, Brian. I shared your reply with the network techy and we took the plunge. And so far, it looks like this customer's upgrade went smooth as well.

Hello Greg,
We are running Dynamics GP 9.0. Upgrade to SQL 2005 SP2 went smooth. We have been running this SP for several months with no issues. Being a DBA I would always suggest running a test upgrade on a test system before performing any upgrade on the live databases. I would also suggest to running reports from GP that you would normally run before doing an upgrade to the application, run these reports before and after upgrade to be sure no data was effected. And always have a backup before you perform an upgrade so you can revert back to the old database if you need to.
