Just started receiving this: Cannot read property 'firstChild' of null

Hello all,

As far as I know there has been no changes to the entities but we are starting to receive an error every time we click around the Account, phone call and contact entities.

I took a quick look around but didn't spot any issues.

Any one have suggestions on how to locate where this is coming from and resolve it?

    hello,

latest news say that on the online version is solved and will be solved also for on premise after a new release 8.2.2.333 that should appear very soon.

in the DOM generation a new "IF" will be added in order to solve this error that is appearing on several entities when entering or exiting records by clicking on lookup fields or going back in the browser.

the workaround is the one proposed by Aric: "...use XRMToolbox User Settings Utility. In there change the Error notifications for Privacy section for the users that you select." Is better to select all to avoid a war. :)

    have fun.

I got the very latest Version 1612 (9.0.0.3172) (DB 9.0.0.3172) online and still getting the same error.   Is anyone aware that if it is already fixed ??

Hi Jerry Weinstock, we already applied 8.2.2.154. But we still see this error. Can you check if there is any update on the patch.

    Thanks

I have just completed an email exchange with a member of the Product Team in Redmond. One of the upsides of being an MVP.

This is a known issue that has been fixed in a pending release. It's not your javascript.

The release that fixes this will be 8.2.2.135. I don't have a scheduled date yet from the product team, but once I do I will repost back here. It is supposed to be deployed very soon. This does pertain to the North American Data centers. I am seeking additional info on deployment to other data centers.

In the interim as another posted stated, you should go into the privacy settings and turn off ask for permission as an interim work around solution.

    Hi,

you may also want to read this post:

There was the same error, it seems, so there might be the same resolution.

This seems to be an internal MS error, which usually will not affect your application and can be ignored.

You can modify the privacy settings of your users.

Go to Personal Options, by clicking on the Settings button on the blue application bar (to the right of Advanced Find).

In the menu click on Options. When the options menu opens, click on the Privacy tab, and select Never Send an error report to Microsoft about Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

If you need to do this for all the users (if there are too many), you can use XRMToolbox User Settings Utility. In there change the Error notifications for Privacy section for the users that you select.

    Hope this helps.
