Manually enter customer numbers?

Is it possible to manually assign customer and job numbers in the Business Edition?

We are just starting our setup but would like to implement manual customer and job numbers.  I tried doing this in the Cronus instance by unchecking the "Default Nos" box in number setup but am receiving an error when I try to create a new customer...plus there is no place to enter a manual customer number on the customer card.

An example customer number is:  G0101 or T0402 (the first character will change depending on the company, the rest of the number changes based on location, etc.)

Example Job number would be:  P1801 or B1801 (the first character indicating the type of job for easy identification in other connected systems, the rest of the number will change based on other criteria.)

Select "Show More" from the upper right corner of the General section to display the No. field, and change the No. field. It appears from the screen shot that you have "Show Less" selected.

Hi and thank you for replying.  I am trying to do this for a new customer in the Cronus file, but I find that I can highlight the customer number that is autoassigned in the customer card but I'm unable to change it.  Can you elaborate on how you actually changed it?  The Job number was easy because it came up with an initial screen with a number that I could change.

The new customer setup had a choice of templates and then this card appeared.  Do I have to create the customer without a template in order to be able to change the assigned number?

You're welcome - There is no Save button in Business Edition. Everything is saved for future editing. Critical items are posted, like general journals, and purchase invoices - once posted, you can no longer make changes.

Open a blank vendor card and change the suggested Vendor No. to the new Vendor No., tab to the next field and the system will prompt you to confirm you entry.

    Regards,

    Ian

Thank you Ian - did you have to save the customer and job first before being able to override the number?

    Hi Kimberly,

I was able to overwrite the default Vendor number in the No. box on the Vendor card. It did prompt me to confirm that I wanted to change the default number. Search on No. Series and confirm that Manual Numbers is selected as an option for Vendors. I tried the same process with Cronus, and I was able to do the same.

I'm not sure about job number.
