Data calculation within CRM between 2 entities

Posted on by 160

Hi All,

I am looking for some help on creating reports. Below is the business case with example.

From a total of 100 accounts, there are at least 1 activity (Phone call, Email, Appointment) for 80 accounts. We have created a custom entity to track all accounts with activity and the report is in place. Now, we want to calculate the percentage of accounts that had some activity during a specific period of time; in this scenario it will be 80%.

I know we can do this by downloading the dynamic report of these 2 entities and do some excel work to get the percentage.

I am wondering if there is an option to do it in a way that, the user can view the percentage within CRM itself, but just editing the dates?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Praveen.

  • RE: Data calculation within CRM between 2 entities

    Hi,

I couldn't get the logic to use calculated field for my business case. Let me explain in detail and let me know if makes sense.

    Entity 1 (Account entity):

I have an advanced find view to get the list of special accounts, based on 3 fields in Account entity. For example, field 1 value = Yes or field 2 value = Yes or field 2 value = Yes; and there are 100 out of 500 are special accounts.

    Entity 2 (Custom entity):

A new record will be created for this entity when an activity (Phone call, Appointment, Email) is created for any special account . Since, this will be based on activities, there can be multiple records created for same account. For example, there are 300 different records created for 80 different accounts.

    Business case:

We want to calculate the number of special accounts that has activities (i.e. 80) against the total number of special accounts (i.e. 100) and see the percentage of it, based on specific dates. The reason is, user has a target of creating activities (contacting customer) for at least 90% of the total special accounts within a given quarter.

    Thanks,

    Praveen.

In addition to that if you can't use calculated fields, other options to have a custom code (plugin/workflow ) where you can do the calculation based on some logic and can store that value to your field, later this field can be used on the views and entity forms.

    Hi,

I am not exactly sure about how you are storing the data on your custom entity but you cna look for calculated field for this requirement.

    www.powerobjects.com/.../calculated-fields-in-dynamics-crm-2015

    technet.microsoft.com/.../dn832103.aspx

    www.encorebusiness.com/.../dynamics-crm-calculated-fields

If the above doesn't suit your requirement then please share some more details.

    Hope this helps.
