Why are the 'Source Type' and 'Source No' fields non-editable on the Item Journal in Business Central? What are the objectives of these fields? Is there a way to enable it?

Thanks!

I believe these are used internally while posting sales/purchase docs and also Output Journal in Production scenarios.

Some fields are internally used by the system and not meant for user input.
The source type and source no are two of those internal fields.
The fields are automatically populated when you do sales, purchase, service, assembly, warehouse, production, or assembly.

This is a system field. Even if you display it, you cannot modify it, and it is not recommended to modify it through customization.
When you post Item Journals, the system will insert different values depending on the type of posting.
    For example,
    Sales:
    Assembly:
    Purchase:

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

those fields are for auditing purposes and not user input data. after posting, user could trace the how the entries were posted.
