What will be the ideal Azure career path for Dynamics 365 F&O developer?

First of all apologies if this is not the right place to post this question. The reason why I am posting this here is, not everyone knows what AX is and this forum is filled with experts.

As the title suggests, I am a Dynamics 365 F&O and AX2012 developer with 7+yrs experience and don't have any other experience outside of AX. I want to learn and explore Azure and I am ready to put the effort. My only concern is that the effort I am going to put shouldn't go waste and should add to my experience.

From what I understand, there are two routes I can take, Azure Architect and Azure DevOps Engineer. And to go into the Devops route I again have two routes, one is through Azure Administration and another through Azure Developer. Is my understanding correct?

Keeping in mind that I don't have any experience outside of AX or F&O (like Computer networking, security, dotnet etc) but willing to put the effort and learn whatever is required, which path do you think will be best to build upon my experience so that I can advance in my career while also staying relevant.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Martin, Thanks for your suggestions. My plan is not to get into purely management role as my experience progresses, I want to keep learning new things in the technical front.

Since I am thinking that Azure has more scope for growth and demand and there might be many new things coming in the future, I want to completely switch from F&O. Since it won't be easy to completely switch now, I want to start doing something in Azure related to F&O and gradually switch.

Also on a personal note I want to thank you for your contributions to this forum, many times in my 7+ years of career, I have looked for solutions to problems and got them form your answers. Thank you so much

Thanks Deepak for your response, I did try the browse certification page and didn't find any Azure related paths for the DynamicsAX and was concerned that what ever Azure path I decide to learn will be a complete tangent to my existing experience.

In the path towards DEVOPS, which route out of Azure Administration and Azure Developer will be more relevant to F&O developer in your view?

Don't get too distracted by labels like "Azure DevOps Engineer". The point is: what would you like to do?

You said you're a developer - is it what you want to do in future as well? Or would you like to do something else?

Also, do you want to keep working in F&O and just add some extra skills, do you want to switch completely to something else?

If you want to continue working as an F&O developer, you should get into the area of integration and reporting. There you can design Logic Apps and Flows, write Azure Functions, work with things like Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management, deal with data in Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake and other Azure storage types, and so on.

    Hey there,

You can give it a try here

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/browse/?expanded=dynamics-365&products=dynamics-finance%2Cdynamics-finance-operations

Also, I would prefer to go with DevOps as it's tightly coupled with D365FO.
