Dimension In Business Central

I have some issue on Dimension.

Scenario ONE:-

I have a Dimension Customer Group (Large, Medium & Small). I had configured Customer A as "Medium" in the Customer table. Next i had configured Item 1234 as "Large" in the Item table. Default Dimension Priorities is NONE for the Source Code "SALES"

I did a Sales Order. The Dimension at the Sales Header level populated with "Medium" (correct). The Dimension at the Sales Detail level populated with "Medium" (Correct)

Scenario TWO:-

Then i configured Default Dimension Priorities with Item Table (27) with Priorities (1). Then i did the Sales Order again. Now, the Dimension at the Sales Header level populated with "Medium" (correct). The Dimension at the Sales Detail level populated with "Medium" (Large)

Scenario THREE

Then i configured Default Dimension Priorities with Customer table (18) with Priorities (1) and then remove Item table (27) from the configuration settings. Then i did the Sales Order again. Now, the Dimension at the Sales Header level populated with "Medium" (correct). The Dimension at the Sales Detail level populated with "Medium" (Medium)

Scenario FOUR

Then i configured Default Dimension Priorities with Customer table (18) with Priorities (1) and added again Default Dimension Priorities with Item table (27) with Priorities (2). Then i did the Sales Order again. Now, the Dimension at the Sales Header level populated with "Medium" (correct). The Dimension at the Sales Detail level populated with "Medium" (Large).  This is incorrect.

I did the same test against Purchase Orders, It works well there, but over at the Sales end, it is behaving differently. Why? Can someone explain this. Thank you so much for the explanation in advance.

Are you using Vendor priority for sales order. Or it is just typing mistake by you.

    Please confirm this.

    RE: Dimension In Business Central

Could somebody test this scenario and let me know. Thank you fort the support.

    Scenario 4:-

    a) Configured the Customer Master Dimension - Salesperson with "HI"

    b) Next, configured the Item Master Dimension - Salesperson with "JO"

    c) Set the Dimension Priorities as follows :-

         Vendor with Priority 1

         Items with Priority   2

    The Expected Test result :-

    a) The Salesperson in the Sales Header record will be populated with "HI", since the Customer Master Dimension settings is "HI"

    b) The Salesperson in the Sales Detail record will also  get populated with "HI" too, since the Dimension Priority settings is "1"

    Actual Test Result:-

    a) The Salesperson in the Sales Header record get populated with "HI", since the Customer Master Dimension settings is "HI" >>>>>>  Correctly populated

    b) The Salesperson in the Sales Detail record get populated with "JO". >>>>>>>>> Incorrectly populated (should be HI)

I hoped my explanation is clear to follow. Thanks for the response.

    Just to add some information.

It is also important to understand than when posting sales orders the income transaction posted to G/L will always use the dimensions from the sales order line if the same dimension is used on the sales head but with another dimension value.

Thanks for the fast prompt response. This is just an example to demo the features working well in the BC Test sample data. It does not project any real-life requirements.

I had tested out in Purchase, Location & Planning Worksheets. It works well as per the designed, but the behavior is different in Sales Order.

All the scenario works well, except scenario 4 for Sales. Allowed me to repeat the configurations settings again.

In all your scenarios, the system is working as designed. The customer group in the header will never change based on a dimension from a line item. How could it? If you have 3 lines, one Small, one Medium and one Large what would the header dimension be?

I also find it interesting that you have line items with Customer Group dimension. Maybe you need and Item Type dimension so you can identify items one way, customers another and then be able to cross section (slice and dice) the two dimension combinations.
