Does Project Operations use the universal scheduler for resource management?

The microsoft docs say that PSA uses the universal scheduler but I could not tell if Project Operations does for resource management.

My requirement is fairly light-touch project planning with a heavy does of closely-managed hour-by-hour resource scheduling, and I want some of the Project Operations features (eg. activity cost management) but I don't want to lose the benefits of the Universal scheduler.

Anyone know?

thanks

    Hi patrcikwillis.

ProjOps uses Universal Resource Scheduling (URS). It's a platform horizontal and is used by PSA, ProjOps, FS, CS and Sales.

For granular resource management it's worth mentioning that resource assignment contours are still locked for editing so matching assignments with bookings is currently a bit problematic. Assignment contour editing will be unblocked in the short term.

    Thanks Antii - really helpful.

If you could elaborate.... I don't need complex contouring... I simply need something like:

Task A - 09:00-13:00 4/4/21 - who is available with the right skills?  and then make soft/hard bookings

I would just use Cust Svc or some custom tables, but I wanted the expense management and the project extensions to the Sales processes so I thought PrjOps lite, but not if the straightforward scenario above isn't seamlessly supported!

    Any extra input much appreciated.

patrcikwillis short answer is yeah, you can do that. The long answer is that it's a bit more complicated in ProjOps due to how resource management in ProjOps works: we book resources on projects but we assign them on tasks. I can give you a run-through of resource management in ProjOps if you want to jump on a call. Feel free to reach out to me at antti"at"anttipajunen.com.
