GP Utilities won't open

Hello!

I am attempting to get GP Utilities to work so my GP admins can use this remotely via Terminal Services.  What I am finding is that GP Utilities only runs for server adminstrators via Terminal Services.  If my GP Admins attempt to run it (and they are Remote Desktop Users on Terminal Server), the validation process does not run, and then a pop-up error occurs:

"An error occured while trying to use the BCP Utility -- data was not correctly copied to the server.  Please verify your ODBC settings and that BCP has been correctly installed.  Microsoft Dynamics Utlities will now exit."

Any ideas?  I'm guessing it's needing some sort of permissions, but I don't know what.

Tom

    Hi Tom,

Is the ODBC set to use SQL Server permissions? Make sure your databases (in this case probably the DYNAMICS db), have unrestricted growth. Could also be an issue with server / computer names. On your SQL server check that the server and computer names are the same, and rule our any invalid characters as an issue . Other than that, these are the usual BCP problem causers. Have you checked customer / partner source? I remember I had similar issues before, and I found a few techknowledge articles that pointed me in the rigt direction, but you will have to dig a bit.

    Best regards,

    Ian.

Thanks.  Would that explain why the program works for domain/server admins but not remote desktop users?  It just seems wierd.

I'll take a look at your recommendations, too.

Not sure. The above would be independent of the user rights?...but if it works for domain admins then the core of your issue has to be some form of rights issue. Are the domain users logging in over remote desktop or locally...are they using a different ODBC to standard users?

I found the following techknowledge which might be of help.
