Dear All,

In the Cloud, we have two servers one for SQL Database and another for NAV Application. The SQL Server Machine is running with 8GB RAM (25% Free) & the Application Server Machine is running on 16 GB (50% Free). The database size is less than 2.5 GB. Concurrent users are a maximum of 5. Both the Servers have an efficient processor.

Still, a very simple report is consuming too much time to display preview.
What could be the reasons in this case?

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you,
Subrata Bauri

Is it using an efficient index/key? Many records in the table? Define simple.

Report is based on two table (Table 1 & Table 2)..Without any code.

    Table 1 has two fields

    1. No.  (PK)

    2. Information

    Table 2 has three fields

    1. Document No. (PK)

    2. Line No. (PK)

    3. Item No.

First DataItem is Table 1 & Second DataItem is Table 2 & indented.

To check why the report is so slow, I suggest to verify if you have flowfields or if you have code inside your dataitem that loops.

Off topic: Regarding your configuration, SQL Server machine should have at least the same RAM size as the application server, quite strange that it's less (only 8 GB). More ram you have for SQL, more database is cached (so better performances).

There is no flowfiled & no code. The 2 table have only three records.

I agree that SQL Server must have more RAM. But 8 GB is quite sufficient in this Test environment (only 5 concurrent users are working with bit size of data and even single user mode is also facing the same performance issue)

There's no reason for performance problems on a 3 records tables.

I think the problem here could be the network or the report viewer component or something related to the environment. You could also check the event viewer if something here is present.

Nothing funny like an Integer loop running unbounded?

Communication between these two server is fine. What shoulf I look for the below component...?

    1. Report Viewer Component

    2. Environment

    3. Event Viewer

    There is no infinite loop.

We cannot help without seeing the tables structure and the report definition then...

I will share in text format.
